Hardship fund for newly self-employed open for applications
Applications for financial support for newly self-employed workers in Perth and Kinross affected by the impact of the coronavirus pandemic are now open.
Perth & Kinross Council will be administering and awarding payments locally from the Scottish Government's £34million Newly Self-Employed Hardship Fund (SEHF).
The SEHF is intended to provided hardship relief to newly self-employed people who:
- have lost revenue as a result of coronavirus;
- are not eligible for/have exhausted all other forms of Covid-19 business support;
- are not receiving working age benefits; and
- do not have sufficient savings or other income to meet their basic needs.
Eligible applicants must have become self-employed on or after 6 April 2019 and be able to show they were actively trading up to March 2020. Successful applicants will receive a one-off payment of £2,000.

Perth & Kinross Council Chief Executive Karen Reid said: "This fund is aimed at bridging the gap for newly self-employed workers who do not qualify for other forms of business support being made available during the current coronavirus lockdown. In Perth and Kinross we recognise there are likely to be many businessmen and women in this situation so it is important that they seek help if needed.
"We are ready to receive applications and will work to process these requests for vital financial assistance as quickly as we possibly can."
