There were smiles, dancing and festive cheer on the streets of Perth city centre this weekend as the Winter Festival events returned with free family entertainment, live music, cakes, soup, and a fantastic party atmosphere!

Thousands of people poured into the city centre for the Christmas Lights Switch-On, last seen in November 2019.

Perth and Kinross Provost Xander McDade said, "It was fantastic to see Perth buzzing again with visitors from near and far, making the city their destination to start the festive season.

"With more events to come in this year's busy Winter Festival programme, including, St Andrew's Day Weekend and a Magical Christmas Weekend, once again it proves that Christmas is made in Perth and Kinross."

Councillor Grant Laing, Perth and Kinross Leader, said: "A huge thank you has to go to all the Council staff, performers and visitors who helped make this weekend another big success. At a difficult time for many households, it is great to be able to offer free festive fun for all the family. The Winter Festival programme also encourages people who may be working from home or out of the habit of trips into the centre to re-visit our city and remember all the wonderful independent shops, eateries, and attractions we have on offer. A full report on the economic impact of the Winter Festival will be reported to Council in the New Year, but anyone in Perth over the weekend will be in no doubt that it pulled in the crowds."
