Perth and Kinross pupils receive SQA exam results

Attainment statistics published today by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) show young people in Perth and Kinross have performed well across a range of measures in their SQA Assessments in 2024.

Early figures show that pupils in Perth and Kinross achieved 2273 National 4 awards and 6437 National 5 awards, an increase of 333 over the number of National 5 passes in 2023 and an 80% success rate.

At Higher (SCQF Level 6) qualifications, pupils in Perth and Kinross were awarded 3315 passes, an improvement on session 2022-23, achieving a 76% pass rate.

At Advanced Higher (SCQF Level 7) there were 499 passes across our schools, also an improvement on session 2022-23, and a pass rate of 74%.

These results represent the culmination of many years of learning and endeavour on the part of so many young people. We know that many young people will be pleased with their results and that others may be disappointed.  Young people should contact their school for advice and help if they have any concerns about their results. Further information is also available online from the SQA on their results support web pages which can be found at www.sqa.org.uk.

Sheena Devlin, Executive Director of Perth & Kinross Council's Education and Children's Services, said: "It is always great to see the successes of our children and young people rewarded on results day. These results are down to their hard work.

"We would also like to thank all our teachers, school staff, parents and carers for their hard work and support.

Learning and Families Convener Councillor John Rebbeck added: "These results are a reflection of the effort put in by everyone in our school communities.

"It's worth remembering that if you have not got the results you were hoping for help and advice is available. I would encourage any young person in that situation to seek that advice at an early stage. These results are a milestone and not a destination."
