Remembrance Day weekend events in Perth

Events commemorating the contribution of military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars and later conflicts will be held in Perth over the weekend from Friday 8 November to Monday 11 November 2024:

Friday 8 November - Bailie Chris Ahern, Armed Forces Champion will lay a wreath at the Pullar House Memorial during a short service starting at 11.00am. 

On Saturday 9 November, Depute Provost Andrew Parrott and Lord Charles Kinnoull DL will join Military and other organisations and representatives in laying wreaths at the Service of Remembrance event organised by the Association of Perth Veterans, which will take place at the Tri Service War Memorial on St John's Street at 10.45am. 

On Sunday 10 November, Remembrance services will take place across Perth and Kinross which will be attended by the Provost, local Councillors, serving and retired military personnel and other community organisations. The Society of High Constables of the City of Perth will support remembrance events throughout Perth and Kinross.  

A military parade including 7 Scots, Veterans, Military Associations and Youth Group representatives will march through the City of Perth to St John's Kirk leaving Thimblerow car park at 10.00am.  

At the conclusion of the Service at approx 11.45am, the military parade will form up for the march past of military personnel along Tay Street, and the salute will be taken at the Viewpoint on Tay Street/High Street by the Lord-Lieutenant. Immediately following the march past, wreaths will be laid at the 51st Highland Memorial by the Provost, Lord-Lieutenant and the Commanding Officer, 7th Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland. 

On Monday 11 November, the Depute Provost will attend the Remembrance Service at Bowerswell House in Perth. 

Provost Xander McDade said: "We owe our veterans and serving forces personnel a great debt of gratitude for the service they have given to our nation. It is important that we take time to remember those that gave their lives in conflict to preserve the freedoms we enjoy today."
