Employment information - Retirement and pensions

Whatever your age, you're never too young to think about your pension and, the earlier you start your pension, the better off you will be when you retire.  It's vital that your pension works for you, adapting and growing for your own situation.

For those of you approaching retirement, you may feel a mixture of emotions that fall somewhere between anticipation and apprehension, and this area will help you by providing information on your retirement options and your pension.

Information is available here for both the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) which is administered by Dundee City Council and the Scottish Teachers' Superannuation Scheme (SPPA), administered by the Scottish Public Pensions Agency.

From 6 April 2028, the earliest age you can access your pension will increase from age 55 to 57 (except for Ill-Health reasons).  This change is being made by the UK Government to align with the increase to the state pension age, which is due to increase to age 67.

The Scottish Ministers intend to launch a consultation later this year regarding these changes and therefore the documents listed below will require to be updated once the regulations are amended.
