£1 million boost delivers additional road improvements across Perth and Kinross

Perth and Kinross Council has launched a series of major road improvement schemes following the approval of an additional £1 million investment in the 2025/26 Council budget.

One of the projects is the resurfacing of a 350-metre stretch of the A912, between Wicks of Baiglie Road and the M90 slip road at Bridge of Earn. The road has been upgraded with a high-performance surface designed to withstand heavy wear from lorries and buses. Originally scheduled to take two weeks, the work was completed ahead of schedule.

It is one of seven additional schemes made possible by the extra funding, which was proposed by the Council administration to enhance the existing road maintenance programme in the Council budget agreed in February 2025.

Councillor Eric Drysdale, Environment and Infrastructure Convener, visited the site and said: "We know that road maintenance is a top priority for residents across Perth and Kinross. That's why the Council administration included a £1 million investment on top of the existing road maintenance budget — to deliver meaningful improvements that will benefit communities and the local economy.

"These additional schemes use high-quality materials that will reduce the need for future maintenance, saving time and resources in the long run. I'm delighted to see the Bridge of Earn works completed ahead of schedule and look forward to the positive impact of the remaining projects, some of which have already been completed or are underway.

"The investment and upgrades are part of the Council's ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe, efficient, and resilient road network for all users."

The road improvement schemes approved through the additional £1m investment include:

  • Resurfacing of the A912 at the Bein Inn, completed earlier in August.
  • St Finks Road, from East Tullyfergus cottage to junction C446- currently underway
  • Kincardine Road, Crieff - currently underway
  • Grandtully, Lageonan Road to Aultbeag Road - programmed for October
  • Langside Road, Greenacres to Strathallan wood - programmed for October
  • Highland Road, Gilmerton, A85 to Monzie Road - programmed for March 2026.
