Community groups across Perth & Kinross are invited to apply for a share of the £200k allocated for the Green Living Fund 2025/26.
The Green Living Fund has been designed to provide support to community groups with projects that help address both the cost of living and climate crises.
It uses a participatory budgeting approach to listen to community need. The first round of funding in early 2024 saw £215,386 awarded to 38 groups, as selected by over 2,000 voters.
Councillor Richard Watters, convener of Perth and Kinross Council's Climate Change and Sustainability Committee, said: "The Green Living Fund makes a real difference to communities in Perth and Kinross.
"Last year we saw a fantastic range of applications, with 38 projects securing funding.
"I am sure we will see a similar standard of applications this year that help both address climate change and support residents affected by the cost of living crisis."
Positive outcomes from Round 1 included many benefits to both the environment and our communities. Examples of these include:
- Biodiversity enhancements and other land use related issues such as seed planting, food growing and soil management (From Soil to Seed: Strathtay);
- Energy capacity increase such as solar panel and battery storage installations at the Madoch Centre,
- Bike maintenance workshops, training, free bike hire and bike donations benefit all age groups in Aberfeldy (Draft and Flow Community Cycle Workshop)
- Over 100 people were taught to upcycle across 20 upcycling workshops ran by the Tayside Upcycling and Craft Centre.
- In the all-electric hall at Glenfarg Community Centre, 62% of electricity used was generated by the new solar panels installed, increasing the affordability of running the hall and the hours of use.
The fund is designed to empower communities to lead practical projects that make a difference in six key areas: energy, transport, waste, resilience, nature, and engagement. The Green Living Fund is designed to turn local ideas into impactful action or assist with ongoing projects.
Applications for the new round of funding are open now and close on 3 October 2025.
For more information and to apply online community groups should visit Green Living Fund 2025/26 where they will also find a link to the application form.
To help groups get started, public webinars will be held on 29 August and 8 September. Spaces can be booked online.
Shortlisted proposals will be put to a public votelater this year, giving residents the chance to decide which projects receive funding in their local area.
Eligible groups include charities, development trusts, and other non-profit organisations based in Perth & Kinross. Proposals must align with at least one of the fund's six themes.
