Service of Appreciation for Emergency Services

St John's Kirk in Perth will host a Service of Appreciation for Emergency Services on Sunday, 14 September at 10am.

Led by Reverend Sandy Gunn, the Service will be held in honour of the brave men and women of our Emergency Services and to show our gratitude for the significant work they do to support our communities every day.

The Service takes place on the Sunday after Emergency Services Day (also known as 999 Day) which took place on Wednesday, 9 September. A national day across the UK, it promotes the work of the emergency services as well as educating the public on using the emergency services responsibly and basic lifesaving skills.

Provost of Perth and Kinross Xander McDade said: "We owe an enormous debt to all those who work for the emergency services or who volunteer to support them.

"This year, we have a stark reminder of the importance of their work every time we walk past Scott Street in Perth and see the devastation caused by the fire there.

"Emergency Services Day allows us to show our appreciation for the vital and selfless work the emergency services do."

Reverend Sandy Gunn said: "It is important for whole communities to show appreciation and caring support for one another, especially at times of difficulty.  Therefore, everyone is most welcome."
