The scheme is being constructed in 2 phases:
Phase 1 - Construction (Completed January 2016)
Phase 1 construction works were completed on 12 January 2016. The works consisted of:
- Improvements to the Main Street drainage system and outfall to River Almond
- Bowling Club flood defences
- Demolition of sports pavilion
- Rock armour embankment protection to section of River Almond

Phase 2 - Construction (October 2016 to October 2018)
The Phase 2 construction works have been carried out by Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering Ltd. Works started in October 2016 and are programmed for completion by October 2018. Progress has been affected by various factors, including service diversions, unexpected ground conditions and weather. However, the flood defences are now in place and all the engineering works complete. Landscaping, planting and accommodation works are being carried now. The opportunity is also being taking to patch the roads and footpaths in the immediate vicinity of the works.

Aerial drone surveys
To date, 17 aerial drone surveys have been carried out between December 2016 and September 2018 to monitor the progress of the Scheme. The drone surveys, along with footage of the removal and installation of the Black Bridge, are available to view below. Further drone surveys will be carried out as works progress.
