The Childcare Strategy has funding available to support individuals undertaking qualifications which will enable them to register with the Scottish Social Services Council.
Funding is limited and applications will be prioritised. Full funding will not be made available and individuals will be required to apply for an Individual Training Account (ITA) or a Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) account and make a personal contribution of either 15% or 25% towards the cost of their course.
Steps to take
- Individuals must decide on the qualification they wish to undertake and apply to their preferred training provider.
- Once they have been accepted on the course, they must then apply to SAAS or ITA for funding (see below).
- Submit an application for funding to the Childcare Strategy Team on the two forms attached.
To apply for an ITA account, visit My World of Work.
To apply for a part time grant with SAAS, visit their Part-time funding - SAAS webpage. When applying for a SAAS, individuals must inform them that "It is expected that a proportion of the balance will be funded by either their employer or a third party".
Applications for funding must be made by completing this application form to participate in an award bearing course. You should have your line managers approval and this can be completed using the Line Managers Endorsement form.
