Adult learning hub - Short courses - Foodwise

This course provides an opportunity for you to develop your knowledge of food, nutrition and cooking skills and use them effectively.


  • Healthy eating
  • Basic food safety
  • Food preparation and presentation
  • Cooking on a budget
  • Entertaining
  • The food industry
  • Practical cooking skills


Classes will be held online and face to face.


Classes will usually be on a set day every week, but the frequency and time can be adjusted to your needs and circumstances


You will be allocated a staff member who will support you through the course either individually or in a small group.  Examples of tasks might include:

  • Identify the importance and benefits of a range of nutrients and give examples of foods they can be found in
  • Demonstrate that you have developed a broad range of cooking skills and techniques to develop, plan and cook meals over a period of time
