Perth Christmas Lights Switch-on Weekend Event Information

This weekend, Perth will host its Christmas Lights Switch-on on Saturday 22 November, followed by Cakefest and the Perth Nativity and Lantern Parade on Sunday 23 November 2025.

With such a diverse range of events taking place in the city centre, some changes to normal arrangements should be expected to keep disruption to a minimum.  

Road Closures 

The following roads will be closed as follows:

Friday 21 November 

a)    Tay Street from midday
b)    King Edward Street from 6pm
c)    Mill Street (part) from 6pm

Saturday 22 November from 6am

a)    High Street (pedestrianised zone)
b)    George Street
c)    St John's Place
d)    South St John's Place
e)    Kirkside
f)    Kirkgate
g)    St John Street
h)    Skinnergate
i)    Commercial Street, Riverside
j)    Watergate

Sunday 23 November

a)    Tay Street reopens at 6am
b)    North Methven Street from 5pm to 5.15pm
c)    High Street from 5pm to 5.15pm
d)    Other closures remain in place.

Local diversions will be in place. Pedestrian thoroughfare and emergency access will be maintained. 

Stages 

Our main stage, located on Tay Street, will start to be set up at midday on Friday 21 November. Tay Street is expected to reopen on Sunday 23 November by 6am, once the stage has been dismantled.

In addition, two smaller stages will be set up on Mill Street and King Edward Street on Friday 21 November. These stages will be live from midday to 5pm on both Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 November. Once the event closes, these stages will be dismantled and removed.

Public Transport and Car Parking  

There may be delays to some bus services as due to the day's events - please follow live timetables or follow Stagecoach East Scotland for latest information. 
  
Parking will be readily available within city centre car parks. 

Toilets 

There will be mobile toilet facilities throughout the City Centre. Alternative toilet facilities can be found throughout the city centre. 

Assistance 

Stewards will be available around the city centre and can be identified by a Hi-Visibility Vest to provide support and assistance where required. For any serious injury, please dial 999.

Support for people with additional needs  

Parking 

Disabled parking bays will be available as normal, however, this is a busy event and we cannot guarantee available spaces on the day.  

 Toilets 

Changing Places (only) facilities in the Council building, 2 High Street will be available from midday to 5pm on both days. There will be mobile toilet facilities throughout the City Centre.  

Quiet space

There will be an autism friendly and quiet space available located at Vision PK offices, George Street, Perth, supported by Perth Autism Support Staff. This area is available on Saturday 22 November from midday to 6pm.  

Mobility Area 

For people with limited or restricted mobility, there will be a mobility area outside St Matthews' Church with limited space. Those who submitted requests for this area have been notified.
