Bin Straps

Where you can pick up a bin strap strap to secure the lid of your grey bin.

Bin straps (for domestic grey wheelie bins only) are currently available for residents to collect free of charge from libraries and recycling centres in Perth and Kinross and the receptions at Pullar House and 2 High Street in Perth.

The straps do not require any installation - they simply attach to the back handle of the grey bin and hook over the front. The straps can then be briefly unhooked by bin crews to allow them to empty the bin.

These bin straps are provided in an effort to prevent the lighter contents of the grey bin spilling if the bin is tipped in high winds. The grey bin contents have become lighter due to a change in the recycling service, which split the contents of the blue bin. These free bin straps are funded thanks to the Scottish Government's Recycling Improvement Fund (RIF), which is administered by Zero Waste Scotland.

Bin straps can also be purchased directly by householders through Oasis BinLoc.
