Employing a personal assistant

Perth & Kinross Council understands the difficulties clients have when beginning Self-Directed Support, particularly when opting for Direct Payments.

The Self-Directed Support Team offers a range of support which includes all aspects of recruitment, including the employment of staff. Contact them on SelfDirectedSupport@pkc.gov.uk or by phone on 01738 476938.

Personal Assistant Scheme

Perth & Kinross Council have invited all existing and yet to be employed Personal Assistants to join our web page list by filling out a  Personal Assistant Details Form (PDF) [144KB] .

The criteria of joining the Personal Assistant Scheme is, they must:

• be a member of the  PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) Scheme (PDF) [111KB] ; and
• be able to provide Perth & Kinross Council with the PVG reference number.

Below is a list of potential Personal Assistants who have provided their details, but you do not need to employ someone from this list.

Training

The Council offers a number of training programmes for Personal Assistants to help them carry out their duties safely, such as handling and moving. For any queries about training for Personal Assistants, please contact hcctraining@pkc.gov.uk
