Skills and Employment Support

Creating opportunity for the people of Perth and Kinross

The Skills and Employment Support Team offers an 'all-purpose' employability service throughout Perth and Kinross to support business growth, people progressing and a wider skills agenda.

The team focus support in 2 specific fields:

  • supporting and advising clients with all aspects of employability and skills development
  • engaging with and supporting local businesses in recruiting and retaining staff to aid business growth

Current employability services for jobseekers

  • Skills Passport - funded grant for unemployed to access training to enhance their chances of sustainable employment and business opportunities.
  • Self-employment grant of up to £2,000 - for those who are in their first three months of self-employment or currently unemployed and looking to start their own business. Contact CForber@pkc.gov.uk for further information.
  • Futures For Families - assisting parents with dependent children to advance within the job market whether that be securing and sustaining or advancing within current role/organisation.
  • Working with young people facing barriers and require some support to move into education, training, volunteering or employment.
  • Frontline employability service for all requiring support in CV building, interview skills/techniques training, assisted job search and more. Watch our video about The Hub on YouTube.

  • Employer recruitment incentives and grants - working in partnership with local employers to create new opportunities for the people of Perth and Kinross.
  • Vacancy management service - supporting businesses in finding suitable candidates, advertising and marketing their roles.

Contact us

If you know anyone who may benefit from support or advice, please send us a referral to ReferralSupport@pkc.gov.uk. Once a referral has been received, the customer will be contacted directly within three working days. We will assess the customer's circumstances and needs to identify the most suitable support services.
