Accessibility Strategy and Action Plan 2022 - 2025

The Education (Disability Strategies and Pupils Education Records) (Scotland) Act 2002 requires all Education Authorities to prepare and implement an Accessibility Strategy for all schools for which they are responsible.

Our  Accessibility Strategy and Action Plan (PDF) [429KB] shows how we as an education authority and schools plan to meet their duties under this Act.

This strategy provides direction for all involved in delivering education for pupils with disabilities.

It covers the provision of all Early Learning and Childcare and school education provided by the local authority both within and out with school buildings, including school activities, for disabled children and young people, including those who also have other protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010.

The strategy sets out the progress made to date, what we plan to achieve going forward and agreed actions to further improve accessibility over the next three years.

It will support those responsible for the delivery of education and Early Learning and Childcare to be aware of and meet their legal duties.

We will monitor implementation of the actions on an ongoing basis and a report on progress will be brought back to the our Learning and Families Committee in October 2025.
