Equality, diversity and inclusion in recruitment

We are committed to equality of opportunity both as a service provider and as an employer - it's at the heart of everything we do. We aim to provide employment opportunities on a fair and equal basis and to ensure that our working environments are safe, accessible, and free from harassment or discrimination.

Everyone has something to offer!

We believe everyone has something to offer and that respecting the identity and culture of our people helps them to flourish and helps us better reflect the communities we serve.

We work closely with our employees and have a range of staff networks who support and represent the interests of colleagues and their allies including LGBT+; Black, Asian and Ethnically diverse colleagues and allies; armed forces veterans, reservists and cadet force volunteers and colleagues with a disability or long-term health condition.

To raise awareness and promote careers within Perth & Kinross Council as an employer of choice to all, where appropriate, we may use  positive action (PDF) [7KB]  to encourage and inform individuals from under-represented groups who we would like to see better represented in our workforce

The Council is committed to providing opportunities to young people from all backgrounds through our Modern Apprenticeships programme.

Equality monitoring

To ensure we are providing equality of opportunity, we ask all candidates to complete a Diversity Questionnaire, as part of our process - this information is not shared with the selection team other than to advise on eligibility for a guaranteed job interview under the Disability Confident Scheme or on any necessary adjustments to process.

To find out more about how we are fulfilling our commitment to promote equality and diversity across our workforce, please see our Equality and diversity pages.

Applications will be accepted from candidates from out with the UK and sponsorship considered for eligible posts. Where posts are not eligible for sponsorship, candidates must have the right to work in the UK and will be asked to provide evidence of this. For information about applying for work from out with the UK, please see UK Visas and Immigration - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk).
