Easter weekend arrangements

Council buildings are closed from 5pm on Thursday 2 April 2026 and will re-open on Tuesday 7 April at 8.45am. Bin collections and recycling centre opening hours are not impacted by these changes

How we calculate your individual rent level

The method we use to calculate individual rents for tenants is outlined below. This method was agreed with tenants as a fair and equitable way for individual rent levels to be calculated, and is used each year, based on a 52-week rent.

Rent level calculation for 2026/2027

Step 1

Everyone starts with the same base rent of £80.58 per week

Step 2

Add or take away these amounts depending on the size of your property:

  • Bedsit - take away £27.32
  • 1 bedroom - take away £6.82
  • 2 bedrooms - keep it the same
  • 3 bedrooms - add £6.82
  • 4 bedrooms - add £13.65
  • 5 bedrooms - add £20.49
  • 6 bedrooms - add £27.32

Step 3

Add or take away these amounts depending on the type of property you live in:

  • Multi-storey - keep it the same
  • Flat - add £6.82
  • Terraced - add £13.65
  • Semi-detached house - add £20.49
  • Detached house - add £27.32

Step 4

Take away £6.82 if you live in a 'hard to heat' property.
