Drivers reminded to use correct spaces in Council car parks

Motorists are being reminded that disabled and electric vehicle charging parking spaces should never be used for general parking in Perth and Kinross Council car parks.

Parking is free after 6pm in Perth and Kinross Council car parks, and recently some motorists have been parking in these dedicated spaces in the evening when they are not authorised to.

Economy and Infrastructure Convener, Councillor Eric Drysdale, said: "EV charging parking bays, along with disabled bays, should never be used for general parking, even after 6pm.

"It is important that these dedicated spaces are always available for people who need them and are authorised to use them. We have noticed in several of our car parks that some of these spaces are being used for general parking after 6pm, perhaps mistakenly.

"Disabled people could face challenges if they are not able to use a dedicated disabled space. There are also a limited number of EV charging spaces available, so these should be kept for motorists who need to charge their electric vehicle.

"I would like to thank drivers in advance for their co-operation. Our Enforcement Officers are on duty until 10pm, so parking in the correct space will help avoid getting a penalty charge notice."
