Book challenge for English learners gets Provost's stamp of approval

A group of people from around Perth and Kinross who are learning English as a second language (ESOL) received certificates from Perth and Kinross Provost Xander McDade earlier this week celebrating their achievements.

Learners supported by Perth and Kinross Council, UHI Perth, ESOL Perth and Bajka Education Centre have taken on the challenge of reading books written in English and writing reviews of their chosen titles.

At the presentation there was also a showcase of the readers' reviews and the work of the local ESOL Partnership.

The Provost said: "The reading challenge has been a great opportunity to celebrate learners' achievement, as well as highlighting the collaborative approach across the local ESOL network and the value of community learning.

"A great deal of hard work and commitment has been shown by our learners and the organisations supporting them to develop their English skills and further their confidence through reading. Congratulations to everyone who took part!"
