Perth and Kinross Council, the Perth and Kinross Adult Protection Committee, NHS Tayside and Police Scotland are delighted to support National Adult Support and Protection Day 2026, on Friday 20 February, which aims to ensure that all vulnerable adults, including those in Perth and Kinross, are safe from all forms of abuse.
Physical abuse and financial abuse are the most common forms of harm against vulnerable adults. Other types of harm include sexual abuse, psychological abuse, neglect, self-harm and self-neglect when people struggle to take care of themselves.
Jane Menzies, Head of Integrated Health and Care with the Perth & Kinross Health and Social Care Partnership said: "We want to make sure that we are supporting and protecting anyone who might not be able to keep themselves, their money or their belongings safe. If you are concerned about an adult who is vulnerable and might be at risk, we urge you to report your concerns. If something doesn't seem right, either for you or someone you know about, please share your concerns with us, or Police or with our colleagues in health. Alternatively, simply pick up the phone or send us an email."
Graham Binnie, Independent Chair of the Perth and Kinross Adult Protection Committee said, "Adult protection is a priority in Perth and Kinross, and each and every member of our community deserves the right to live safe and free from harm. Reporting concerns is vital. It might provide the vital piece in the jigsaw that helps keep someone safe. We are supporting the national message and asking that if you see something, say something."
If you have any concerns about an adult who may be at risk, or you are an adult that feels unsafe, please contact the Access Team on 0345 301 1120 or by email to AccessTeam@pkc.gov.uk.
