Perth and Kinross Council is inviting community organisations to apply for funding to celebrate Scotland's qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2026.
This is the first time the Scottish men's national football team has reached the tournament since 1998. To mark this historic achievement, the Council has launched the World Cup 2026 fund to support community-led celebrations across Perth and Kinross.
A total of £26,000 is available to help bring communities together through events and activities that celebrate Scotland's participation in the tournament. Small grants will support projects that encourage participation, volunteering and inclusion during the World Cup, which takes place between 11 June and 19 July 2026.
Applications are open to sports clubs, voluntary or community organisations, registered charities, constituted groups, not-for-profit companies and community interest companies based in Perth and Kinross.
Groups can apply for up to £1,000 per project, with funding available across five categories:
- children and young people
- walking football
- women's football
- para football
- adult recreational football
Each organisation can submit one application per category, allowing up to £5,000 in total where projects meet the criteria.
Funded projects must be clearly linked to the World Cup, should not already form part of a group's regular programme, and must demonstrate how they will promote participation and enhance volunteering opportunities.
Applications close at 5pm on Monday 4 May 2026. The fund may close earlier if the full allocation is awarded. To apply, community groups must complete our online form.

Strategic Lead for the Council's Housing and Communities, Elaine Ritchie, said: "Scotland's qualification for the World Cup is a fantastic achievement and a moment of real national pride.
"We want communities across Perth and Kinross to share in that excitement and celebrate together. This fund provides an opportunity for local groups to create inclusive events that bring people together and inspire participation in football at all levels."
