Residents, businesses and visitors are being invited to share their views on proposals for a Responsible Busking Code of Conduct for Perth city centre.
The proposed Code of Conduct is designed to support street performance as a valued part of city life, while helping to make sure busking takes place in a way that is fair, safe and considerate for everyone who uses the city centre, including people who live and work there.
Busking and street performance adds colour, culture and energy to the city centre and can play a positive role in bringing public spaces to life when managed well.
However, the Council has also received some concerns from businesses, residents, and visitors about issues such as noise, obstruction, and repeated or prolonged performances in certain locations.
A new consultation sets out proposals for how busking could operate in Perth city centre and asks for views on whether a clearer and more consistent approach would help balance the needs of performers with those of the wider community. The feedback received will help shape how busking is managed in the future and whether the proposed approach should be taken forward.
The Code of Conduct would provide clearer guidance for performers, businesses, and enforcement officers on what is expected, including acceptable standards of behaviour and operation.
The proposals also outline where busking would be permitted within the city centre and the times when it would be allowed, aiming to strike the right balance between supporting busking and maintaining a pleasant and accessible city centre environment.
People are encouraged to read the proposals and share their views via the Council's Consultation Hub by 18 May 2026. All feedback will be considered as part of the Council's decision‑making process.
