A new initiative by Perthshire Pride, supported by Perth and Kinross Council, will highlight LGBTQ+-supportive businesses around the local area.
Launching ahead of this year's IDAHOBIT (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia) on Sunday 17 May 2026, the new 'Safe Place' rainbow stickers have been created as a simple way to highlight premises and venues where people from the LGBTQ+ community can find safe spaces in day to day life.
Perthshire Pride will now be engaging with businesses in Perth and Kinross about the initiative. Marysia Macfarlane, the organisation's Co-Chair said: "This initiative means a great deal to me. Perthshire Pride is built on compassion, visibility and belonging, and I'm proud to help strengthen that foundation for our LGBTQ+ community and allies."
Perth and Kinross Council's Equalities Lead, Councillor Peter Barrett commented: "We're pleased to support Perthshire Pride with this initiative to help members of the LGBTQ+ community to know where the 'Safe Places' are locally within Perth and Kinross. As a Council we have made a commitment to equality and fairness in our area and partnership working with organisations like Perthshire Pride and Rainbow Heartlands to foster good relations is a key part of that commitment."
