Are you registered?
If you are not sure if you are already registered to vote then contact the local Electoral Registration Officer by emailing perth@tayside-vjb.gov.uk or call 01738 630303.
Annual canvass
To maintain the electoral register a canvass of voters takes place each year. All households are sent an annual canvass form to confirm that details of registered voters remain the same. To make sure that you continue to be registered to vote simply check the form when it arrives and return it as promptly as possible. You can reply online, by telephone, by text message or by returning the paper form in the reply paid envelope provided.
Registering to vote
- You can now register online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. You can also register to vote by post by downloading and printing off a voter registration form.
- Everyone is responsible for registering themselves.
- You will need to provide a few details to register - including your national insurance number and date of birth. This makes the electoral register more secure.
- Look out for a confirmation to say you're registered.

How can I opt out of the 'Open Register'?
If you and any other registered elector within your household wishes to opt out of the Open Register, you need to tell your Electoral Registration Officer. Send your full name and address in an email to elections_perth@tayside-vjb.gov.uk . When the Electoral Registration Officer gets this email, they will remove the elector(s) name from the Open Register and send a notice to each elector as soon as possible.
You can find out more about the Open Register and Electoral Register at www.tayside-vjb.gov.uk/pages/elec2.html
Please do not contact Perth & Kinross Council as we cannot access the Register and we cannot contact the ERO on your behalf.
