During spring 2024, the Housing Service held a number of neighbourhood walkabouts with tenants and residents across Perth and Kinross, as part of our Estate-Based Initiatives (EBI) scheme.
Under EBI, Council tenants and local residents identify neighbourhood improvements during local walkabouts, attended by local elected members and housing staff. An EBI budget is designated to each Housing locality area for them to use in partnership with local communities.
Planned projects
As a result of the walkabouts held in early 2024, a number of improvements projects were identified to be taken forward in each Housing Locality Area. The work will be planned during financial year 2024/2025 and every effort will be made to ensure the work is concluded, but some of the projects will be reliant on external contractors and other services.
North Locality
Blairgowrie and the Glens
- New whirly dryers and removal of old ones, as well as removal debris at 28 to 32 Glenalmond Road, Rattray.
- New street signs at Hatton Road and Glendevon Court, Rattray.
- Remove litter, shrubbery, bushes, roots, and so on, level the ground, then turf or seed area at 14 to 20 Glendevon Court, Rattray.
- Replacement fence at drying area for 49 to 63 Myrtle Park, Blairgowrie.
- Removal and repair of handrail on external stairwell, 22 Ferguson Park Road, Rattray.
Highland
- Cut back trees, shrubbery and strim ground at Bobbin Mill, Pitlochry.
- New coal bunkers and mini sheds at Bobbin Mill, Pitlochry.
Strathmore
- Remove rubbish/fly-tipping at garage area, Springbank Road, Alyth.
- Emptying of bins and removal of black bags at 26 to 34 Green Road, Balbeggie.
- Bush to be chopped back/cut down at Hillgarden/Hill Place, Coupar Angus.
South Locality
- Resurface car park area at Scroggiehill, Almondbank.
- Improvements to communal garden area at Castle Buildings, Milnathort.
- Cut back overgrown area and verge at Sauchob Crescent, Methven.
- Clear area behind fence at Brickhall Place, Bridge of Earn.
- New public noticeboard and bench in Bridge of Earn.
- Uplift and remove bins at Sauchie Place/Dallerie Road, Crieff.
- Strim, weed, rake leaves, lop branches and spread chips at Lumsden Crescent, Almondbank.
- Cut back leylandii and shrubbery, and remove wooden shelter at Colville House, Crieff.
- Cut back and clear ground vegetation at Paradise Avenue, Bridge of Earn.
Perth City Locality
- Repair of potholes in car park at Lickley Court.
- Replacement of boundary fence at Cromlix Road.
- Install two 4ft fences to separate gardens at Dunkeld Road.
- Clear overgrown area including ivy at Melville Street.
- Strim ground and lay chips at Whitefriars Street.
- Cut back hedges and grass at Angus Road, Scone.
- Remove tree root, cut back overhanging trees, remove self-seeded ground scrub and trim back bushes at Darnhall Crescent.
Letham and Hillyland Locality
- Pathway at back of 132 Rannoch Road - solar lights to be added.
- New bin stores to be built at Firbank Road.
- Pigeon spikes to be added at 208 to 210 Crieff Road.
- Clear path and cut hedge at Dunsinane Drive.
- Improvements to Community Garden at flat used for local events, Dalreoch Place.
- Weed kill and cut back overgrown area used for fly-tipping at Bruce Crescent.
- Clean up bin areas at Newhouse/Balgowan.
More neighbourhood walkabouts are planned for later this year where additional improvement projects will be identified.
