Residents urged to vote for community projects

Public voting is now open for both the Fairer Communities for All and the Green Living Funds.

The voting window closes at 5pm on Friday 14 November 2025 and residents can cast their votes before the deadline.   

All Perth and Kinross Residents are eligible to vote for their favourite Fairer Communities for All and the Green Living Fund projects for the ward they live in via a combined voting system. 

Fairer Communities for All is designed to make it easier for communities to shape local projects and influence how local funding is spent in relation to tackling the cost-of-living crisis. 

The Green Living Fund is an opportunity for community groups to apply for a grant to support new initiatives that tackle climate-related priorities within the community, while also helping those in the community with the cost of living. 

Community groups across Perth and Kinross were invited to apply for a share of the £200k allocated for the Green Living Fund 2025/26. This funding opportunity is targeted at projects that support local action on climate change and the cost of living.  44 bids from community groups were received and available for community selection.

The Green Living Fund is designed to empower communities to lead practical projects that make a difference in six key areas: energy, transport, waste, resilience, nature, and engagement. The Green Living Fund is designed to turn local ideas into impactful action or assist with ongoing projects.  

Fairer Communities for All was a new process designed to make it easier for communities to shape local projects and influence how local funding is spent. Community groups were invited to apply from across Perth & Kinross. 

For the 2025/26 period, over £347,000 has been allocated across the 12 Perth and Kinross Wards via Fairer Communities for All to support community-led projects that address the cost-of-living challenges and build a better future. 100 bids from community groups have now progressed to the public vote. 

Vote for your favourite projects in your local community by accessing the online voting platform. This can be accessed at on Perth and Kinross Climate Action website or the Council's website

Councillor Richard Watters, convener of Perth and Kinross Council's Climate Change and Sustainability Committee, said: "We have had some amazing applications to the Green Living Fund for projects which will help the environment and help tackle the cost-of-living crisis.

"These are projects that are chosen by the community for the community and I urge everyone to vote for their preferred bids now."

Councillor Tom McEwan, Housing and Social Wellbeing Convener, added: "As a Council we are committed to working with communities on what matters most to them.

"There are many fantastic applications to the Fairer Communities For All Fund. Voting can be done quickly and easily online - and it will make a real difference to the area you live."
