Local Development Plan 3 - Call for sites

This section provides information on the Call for Sites process of the next Local Development Plan (LDP3).

The Development Plans team recently invited stakeholders to submit site suggestions for consideration in the next Local Development Plan (LDP3).

The Call for Sites ran from April to July 2025, giving communities, developers, landowners, and other interested parties the opportunity to help shape the plan by promoting land for potential development. This is an important stage in the development planning process, identifying locations that may be suitable for future growth.

The LDP3 Call for Sites Submissions (2025) Map has been prepared to provide transparency and show the sites that were suggested. These sites will now be assessed as part of the preparation of LDP3.

Our indicative timeline for the next stages are as follows:

  • Site assessments: December 2025 - January 2026
  • Identification of draft spatial strategy: January - February 2026
  • Focussed public engagement on places following on from these key elements: February - March 2026

Please note: Inclusion on this map does not mean a site will be allocated for development. All sites are currently undergoing appraisal, and only those considered suitable will be taken forward to the Proposed Plan stage. There will be a formal opportunity to comment on the Proposed Plan when it is published in 2026.
