Direct Debit

The Direct Debit form should only be completed if you have registered for Council Tax and have received a Council Tax bill for the property concerned.

If you have not registered for Council Tax at the property you must notify us of your change in circumstances in order that your account can be set up.

Set up a Direct Debit

The simplest and most convenient way to pay your Council Tax is by Direct Debit.

If you are already paying by Direct Debit and wish to change your bank details and/or payment frequency, please note this cannot be done online.

If you are not currently paying by Direct Debit, you can use our online form to set this up.

You can choose when to pay:

  • Monthly - on 1st or 15th over 10 months (April to January)
  • Monthly - on 1st or 15th over 12 months (April to March)
  • Fortnightly - on a Friday over 21 instalments (April to January)
  • Fortnightly - on a Friday over 26 instalments (April to March)
  • Weekly - on a Friday over 42 instalments (April to January)
  • Weekly - on a Friday over 52 instalments (April to March)

Please note we are required to give you 10 working days' notice of your first payment. The above instalments are for a full Financial Year therefore, if your Direct Debit is set up part way through the Financial Year, your payments will be calculated over the remaining payment period and this will result in fewer instalments.

Confirmation of your Direct Debit being implemented along with details of your payments will be given when your new bill is issued.

Set up a direct debit online

You can also set up a direct debit by calling Local Taxes on 01738 477430 or you can download and complete a Council Tax Direct Debit Mandate (PDF) [625KB] .

If your account has progressed to a Summary Warrant, please do not try to set up a Direct Debit online as this will not be implemented.  You must contact a member of the Local Taxes Team to discuss your payment options.

Amending your Direct Debit details or payment date

If you are already paying by Direct Debit and wish to change the bank account from which this is paid, or change the payment date, you cannot do this online.

You must contact a member of the Local Taxes Team on 01738 477430 or download and complete a Council Tax Direct Debit Mandate (PDF) [625KB] . This can be returned to Pullar House, 35 Kinnoull Street, Perth PH1 5GD or by email to localtaxes@pkc.gov.uk.
