Making a building warrant application

The building warrant process in Scotland is a pre-emptive system that seeks to ensure that buildings are designed and constructed to the minimum standards (at the very least) as set out in the building regulations.

Community Asset Transfer

The Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 sets out the rights of communities to have significant influence or control over decisions and services which are most important to them. Part 5 of the Act gives community groups the right to request ownership, lease, or access rights to assets owned by the Council and other public bodies. This is known as Community Asset Transfer (CAT).

Do I need planning permission to run a business from home?

Running a small scale business from home, for example a childminding business, does not usually need planning permission but things like number of callers, deliveries or hours of operation will need to be considered. Check to see if your business plans need planning permission.
