Perth Christmas Lights Switch-On: 22 November 2025

Christmas starts in Perth with the must-see Christmas Lights Switch-On. Local and national music acts and other performers take to the stage and streets of Perth city centre to make them sparkle as we enter the Christmas shopping and party season. Look out for more details coming soon.

16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence 2025

The annual 16 Days of Activism campaign runs from 25 November to 10 December in 2025. The Perth and Kinross Violence Against Women Partnership (PKVAWP), Perth and Kinross Council, and key partners including Perthshire Women's Aid and RASAC Perth and Kinross, have been working together to arrange a diverse programme of events this year aimed at women who have experienced domestic abuse and domestic violence, the professionals who work with them and their families, and the wider local community.

Listed below are the public-facing events taking place in the run up to and during the 16 days of the campaign, as well as a number of events aimed specifically at professionals working, for example, in social work, social care, and family support that have also been arranged and are marked as such in the calendar.

"What Were You Wearing?" Exhibition

When survivors of sexual violence disclose their stories, they are often asked, "What were you wearing?" as if their clothing choice determines their consent. The What Were You Wearing? Exhibition fights back against rape myths by displaying recreations of the clothing survivors were wearing when they were assaulted, showing that someone's clothing does not equate to their consent.

Open to all, free to attend.

Professor Jane Monckton Smith will be presenting the Homicide Timeline. This session will cover research which underpins the Timeline, discussion of coercive control and stalking, deconstructing patterns of control, and examining the eight stages of the Timeline. There will also be time to meet with Jane after the event.

Seminar: "Facing the truth, finding hope"

This seminar will build on the event on Thursday 27 November regarding the Homicide Timeline. This will feature presentations about the Domestic Homicide Review. Key speakers will be Lynn Harris from No Feart, an expert on supporting men who want help addressing trauma and abuse, along with Fiona from EmilyTest, a charity she established after her daughter, a student in Aberdeen, completed suicide after being stalked.
