Next generation broadband

Find out what's happening in Perth and Kinross

Perth & Kinross Council is one of the partners in the national programme to roll-out high speed broadband in Scotland but has no influence over the delivery of the programme which is managed by the Scottish Government through Digital Scotland.  More information can be found on the Digital Scotland Superfast Broadband website, including a postcode checker enabling you to see where high speed broadband may be arriving to your area.

If you have a specific query about when faster broadband is arriving, please send an enquiry form via the same website.

Reaching 100% Programme

Following on from the current programme, the Scottish Government will aim to roll out superfast speeds (>30Mpbs) to all premises in Scotland by the end of 2021, as part of the Reaching 100% Programme (R100). The majority of premises in Perth & Kinross currently unable to receive these speeds are within the scope of the programme, which is undergoing procurement, and the Scottish Government expects to have suppliers in place and ready to start building by early 2019.

For more about the R100 programme, please read the Scottish Government's information note, along with the report on the public consultation process. This page will be updated with further news about the programme going forward.

Broadband Connection Voucher Scheme

The scheme has closed to new applications. Superfast Britain Connection Voucher Programme offered financial assistance to small and medium sized enterprises in Perth and Kinross to help cover connection costs in accessing superfast broadband. The Connection Voucher Scheme formed part of Perth's bid as part of the UK Government's Super-Connected Cities Programme.

The national funding was available on a first come, first served basis.

Case studies

A number of local businesses have improved their broadband through registering with the Broadband Connection Voucher Scheme and the services to their customers and the running of their businesses have benefitted.
