Free Wi-Fi in Perth and Kinross is now available in Perth city centre, all the major towns, and in most Council-owned public buildings. This free access to the internet for residents and visitors complements existing commercial Wi-Fi hotspots.
Public Buildings
In 2014, a network of Wi-Fi hotspots was developed in public buildings, offering free access to residents and visitors.
This complemented existing free public hotspots at Perth Railway Station and Perth Horsecross. Free public Wi-Fi hotspots were also installed at the Fergusson Gallery, Letham Community Centre, and most other Council buildings.
A wide selection of businesses and attractions throughout the city also offer Wi-Fi services.
City and Town Wi-Fi
Thanks to funding from the Council and the Scottish Government Town Centre Fund, we have now installed free public Wi-Fi in Perth city centre, Auchterarder, Crieff, Dunkeld, Aberfeldy, Blairgowrie, Pitlochry, Kinross, Comrie, Scone, Coupar Angus, and Alyth. All these services are free to use.
Mobile Wireless Coverage
Perth and Kinross Council are also working with mobile operators to improve 4G and 5G mobile wireless coverage in underserved areas.
Shared Rural Network (SRN)
This is a collaboration between mobile network operators and the UK Government to improve 4G coverage in rural areas across the UK. Our planning teams are working through applications with agents and mobile operators to ensure the project achieves maximum coverage within current planning legislation. Visit the SRN website for updates.
