General extension of Licensing Hours - World Cup 2026
Perth and Kinross Licensing Board was convened today, Wednesday 18 March 2026, to make a determination in terms of the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2025, Section 67.
The Decision
The Board has granted a general extension of on-sales social demand hours throughout the whole of Perth and Kinross for the showing of all Home Nation (Scotland, England, and if they qualify, Northern Ireland or Wales) matches during the Men's Football World Cup 2026 until 30 minutes after the final whistle of each match, subject to this extension applying to:
- premises with a Premises Licence only
- indoors only
Advisories added
The following advisories have been added:
Any premise intending to show matches during the general extension of licensed hours is:
- requested to notify Perth and Kinross Licensing Board of their intention to show matches
- reminded that the terms of their Premises Licence remain in effect
- advised to carry out a full risk assessment, including respecting neighbouring residential amenity, whether to have door supervision, and ensure there is safe dispersal of patrons
Who to notify
For licence holders, it would be prudent to provide the notification under point 1 above as far in advance of the event as possible. Please email the details to LiquorLicensing@pkc.gov.uk.
Where does the extension apply to?
This general extension of hours only applies to those premises with a Premises Licence and must be indoors only. For clarity, the extension is for bricks and mortar operations only.
Where does the extension not apply to?
It does not apply to outdoor areas including marquees and tents, nor does it apply to unlicensed premises that require to apply for an Occasional Licence.
For clarity, the extension also does not apply to outdoor spaces, pavement cafes or similar.
Is an Extended Hours Application required?
As a general extension of licensed hours has been granted, Premises Licence holders do not require to submit an Extended Hours Application. It is a matter for each relevant licence holder whether to operate the general extension of hours.
Licensed Members Clubs
Please note that any licensed members' club wishing to show matches to the public must apply for Occasional Licences.
