Making an objection or representation to an alcohol licence application

The Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 provides that any person may make an objection or representation to the Licensing Board in respect of the following types of applications:

  1. New Premises Licences (including Provisional Premises Licences)
  2. Major Variations applications (to Premises Licences)
  3. Occasional Licences

It is not possible to object to an application for minor variations to a premises licence.

The phrase "any person" includes both individuals and bodies, such as community councils.

Detailed information on how to make an objection or representation is contained in the Guidance Note - Make an objection or representation to a licence application (ALCOHOL) (PDF, 38 KB)
