Mental health and wellbeing resources

Find out about the Perth and Kinross Health & Social Care Partnership resources available to raise awareness of mental health and wellbeing, tackle stigma and discrimination, and bring about change.

Please note: This page is undergoing major updates as of April 2026.

We want the people of Perth and Kinross to live healthy and fulfilled lives. Our health and wellbeing naturally change over time and are shaped by many factors, including circumstances we cannot control, such as how we grew up, our susceptibility to illness, and the opportunities available to us. Mental health can be influenced by childhood experiences, poverty, trauma, bereavement, personal responsibilities and characteristics, and how consistently our overall needs are met - and sometimes there may be no clear reason for feeling distressed or unwell. Just as with physical health, there may be moments in our lives when we need support to improve our mental wellbeing, whether from the NHS, the Council, the HSCP, community groups or charities. Alongside medical care, support may also include help with financial stability, safe housing, caring relationships, learning opportunities, meaningful activity and protection from harm.

Media resources

Understanding mental health and wellbeing is an important part of supporting good mental wellbeing for yourself and those around you. 'Mental health' covers a wide range of conditions. This list of media resources (PDF, 1 MB) details some of the common issues you may encounter in your own life or that of people around you - depression, stress, anxiety, and suicide. It includes articles, animations, dramatic short films and online training.

Case studies

The Perth and Kinross Health and Social Care Partnership has produced case studies which discuss the topic of mental health in the workplace. People who have taken part in these anonymous studies have discussed a wide range of topics, including how their workplace has affected their mental health, how they supported colleagues who were struggling with their mental health, and how training can help provide understanding in the ways mental health can affect you and those around you. Those who chose to share their experiences discussed their thoughts and feelings around their mental health and wellbeing, and described what they found useful when sharing their experiences with others.

Mental health and wellbeing policy and procedures toolkit

A toolkit was developed to help businesses and employers to create their own Mental Health and Wellbeing Policy, providing prompts to develop a comprehensive policy that outlines how an organisation intends to conduct its services and actions. View the Mental Health and Wellbeing Policies and Procedures Toolkit (PDF, 1 MB).
