Fuelled for fun

Holidays 2026

This was previously known as the 'Food Insecurity during Holiday Periods' funding 'Fuelled for Fun' that we have been awarding for a number of years to groups and organisations running holiday activities with a healthy meal, in the past many groups have successfully received funding.

Holiday periods can present significant issues for some children, young people and families who received free school meals during term time. We understand that there is often a financial strain on some families that may result in some of our children and young people being unable to access a healthy meal every day.

We are looking for organisations, groups or services that can provide holiday food and childcare or respite for children and families.

This year there is £50,000 to fund applications for Summer and October 2026 holiday periods only.

For summer 2026, there is a separate funding stream for Sport Activities and Groups, which has been awarded through the Scottish Governments commitment to Summer of Sport, with the Scottish Football team being part of the world cup.  More information can be found on the Community funding support page.

What are our aims?

This year the fund is for the provision of childcare or respite with food for children aged 2 to 15 years from low-income families during the school holidays.

Funding is targeted at children and young people living in ACORN categories 4, 5 and 6, in Perth and Kinross. Successful organisations will be provided with a tool to support the identification of eligible postcodes.

Who can apply for a grant?

Any group or organisation can apply for a grant if they meet the eligibility criteria. All grant applications will be assessed and prioritised by the 'Food Insecurity during Holiday Periods' group (FIHP) with whole or partial funding being made available to successful applicants.

What is expected from applicants?

To monitor, evaluate and report on the impact of the project. You will be required to complete an online impact evaluation and submit a postcode spreadsheet of all attendees, with a note of the criteria which they meet and the ages of the children attending the event. All of the spreadsheet information must be completed for each child/young person participating in your project/initiative.

All personnel who will be involved in food handling must be appropriately trained and/or supervised to carry out safe food procedures and will operate an appropriate food safety management system.

All personnel involved in working with children and young people will be required to be in possession of a current and valid PVG certificate.

Applicants not eligible to be covered by Perth and Kinross Council's Public Liability Insurance policy would be required to submit evidence of their own cover. This can be confirmed with the Food Insecurity in Holiday Periods group. Health and safety measures must be considered throughout all aspects of planning and delivery to ensure the safety of all those involved.

How can I apply for a grant?

Applications for Summer and October 2026 will open Wednesday 6 May 2026 until Sunday 24 May 2026. Organisations should apply for both holiday periods at this time, as the fund is unlikely to reopen later.

Applicants are strongly advised to review the Fuelled for Fun Guidance Notes (PDF, 480 KB), as these have changed this year.
