Child Protection Committee (CPC)
Message from the Independent Chair, Bill Atkinson
Welcome to the Perth and Kinross Child Protection Website, which is continually updated and maintained by the Perth and Kinross Child Protection Committee (CPC). Within this website, you will find a wide range of information and advice about child protection and keeping children and young people safe from harm, together with useful links and downloads.
On behalf of the Perth and Kinross Child Protection Committee members, I hope that you will find this website informative, helpful and user friendly. We are keen to continue the development of this website and we would welcome any comments and suggestions you may have. Please feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know what you think.
What are CPCs?
In Perth and Kinross, the Child Protection Committee works in partnership with the Children, Young People and Families' Partnership (CYPFP), which provides leadership, direction, scrutiny and support to the CPC. Perth and Kinross CPC is firmly focussed on child protection practice, aimed at delivering better outcomes for vulnerable children, young people and families across Perth and Kinross.
The Scottish Government has published the National Guidance for Child Protection in Scotland 2014 which describes the functions of Child Protection Committees as continuous improvement; strategic planning and public information and communication. This has been supplemented by Protecting Children and Young People: Child Protection Committee and Chief Officer Responsibilities Guidance (Scottish Government: February 2019)
