Before anyone receives services at Dalweem, they will be assessed against the Eligibility criteria and appropriate services will be offered where available and applicable..

Referral process

Referrals can be made by anyone with a vested interest i.e., friends, neighbours, relatives, prospective resident, social work/health care staff. Staff training

Our social care staff are expected to undertake SVQ level 2 or 3 as part of their registration requirements.

Other Training undertaken by staff are noted below, but please note that this list is not exhaustive.

  • Handling and Moving
  • Introduction to Supervision
  • Personality Disorder
  • Dementia Awareness
  • Adult Support and Protection
  • Mental Health Awareness

Training needs can also be identified through supervision, or through observations of practice and through the medical/care needs of the residents within the care home so that we can provide highest level of care.

There is a training calendar on eric (our internal computer network). Staff can identify anything they would like to do and ask their Line Manager to put them forward for the course.

There is also online training that all staff are expected to work their way through, on an annual basis.

Telecare

At Dalweem we use a call system for residents to alert us for assistance, we are also starting to look at other forms of Technology Enabled Care (TEC). TEC is a term that covers a range of devices and services that harness developing technology to enable people to live with greater independence and safety. We now have security cameras installed on all emergency exits, with a monitoring system in our main office. This system allows us to identify if someone leaves the care home, and also allows us to monitor who is coming in and out of the building.
