The Council provides householders with a chargeable bulky uplift service to be collected from the kerbside for residents at domestic properties. Alternatively, you can dispose of your items at your local Recycling Centre free of charge.
Before requesting this service, please consider whether the items can be donated for reuse.
Collections from reuse organisations are usually free of change and can take place from inside properties. By using this service it helps to reduce waste, benefits the local community and charitable organisations.
Uplift of up to 5 items
You can request an uplift for up to 5 bulky standard items to be collected from the kerbside. This cost of this service is £35.00 (non-refundable).
Standard items are furniture, electrical or gas appliances and other household items which can include:

How do I request a special uplift?
You can request a collection online and if you are booking an uplift of up to 5 items, you will also be required to pay online using a debit / credit card.
Additional items, or items not presented to the kerbside may incur an additional charge.
Alternatively, contact our Customer Service Centre on 01738 476476. Please note we can only accept debit / credit card payments.
How do I present my items for uplift?
All items must be placed at the kerbside for 7:30 am on the morning of your specified uplift day.
If you intend on presenting bags of waste, please make sure you double bag. In addition, no sharp items should be placed in bags. These measures are to protect our staff whilst handling bags of waste.
Please note we cannot uplift items from inside properties, sheds or garages.
What alternative disposal options are available?
Bulky waste can be disposed of at our recycling centres. If your items are still in good working condition, you may want to consider donating them to a local charity or reuse organisation. Details of these can be found on our Donate reusable items pages. Alternatively, you may want to list your items on a local sharing website such as Gumtree or Facebook Market Place
