Garden Maintenance

Information on the Garden Maintenance Scheme

Perth & Kinross Council is still looking to provide the Garden Maintenance Service for tenants, starting on Monday 13th April 2020. We would ask that when a staff member is in attendance cutting the grass that tenants remain inside so we can ensure safe social distancing.

Who is the Scheme for?

The scheme is open to Perth & Kinross Council tenants aged 65 or over. Tenants under 65 and are physically disabled also qualify, providing they are in receipt of Disability Living Allowance, Severe Disablement Allowance or Attendance Allowance.  In addition to the above conditions, there must be no one over 16 and able-bodied person within the tenant's household.

What does the Scheme do?

The Garden Maintenance Service provides:

  • Grass cut every fortnight between April and October (weather permitting)
  • Grass edges strimmed at alternative cuts (edges will not be strimmed if you have a stone chipped border)
  • Grass cuttings bagged and removed
  • Where tenants have hedges less than 2 metres tall these will be cut once in the season in September or October. Cuttings will be collected and removed.

How much will it cost me?

There is a charge of £2.38 per week (£123.76 per year) for this service. The charge is payable in advance with your weekly rent.

How do I apply?

If you are interested in applying for this scheme, please fill in a icon Garden Maintenance form [151Kb] and return it to your local area office.
