Blairgowrie, Rattray & District Climate Cafe wanted to be able to provide healthy drinks at community events for all with no use of single plastics, no preservatives, just pure apple juice.
All they needed was an apple presser to turn them into apple juice.
We were able to connect them with a local business willing to donate a presser through the Community Benefits Wish List. The wish list is part of how the we ensure that contracts awarded by the council are led by sustainable procurement. Achieving not only value for money for public funding, but also creating benefits to society and local communities, whilst minimising damage to the environment.
EW Edwardson, a supplier on the Planned Preventative and Reactive Maintenance to Public Building contract donated the apple masher, and now the Climate Cafe has a sustainable way of creating healthy drinks using locally grown apples for community events.
Using our position to make positive connections between businesses and communities, and being a local leader in tackling climate change.
