Private property owners and landlords in some areas of Perth, Kinross and Coupar Angus can benefit from grant funding to install internal wall insulation to their homes.
Money totalling £1.89m is available to carry out the work which will significantly improve the energy efficiency of the properties and help to keep residents' energy bills down.
The funding is dependent on an assessment that will be carried out on each property, and this could result in the full costs of the insulation being met.
The work involves the installation of internal wall insulation to tenement and flatted properties. The properties that are eligible are of solid stone construction and have no cavity that can be filled to improve their thermal performance. The internal face of the external walls of each property are to be over clad in a thermally insulated board. Properties will be brought up to a decorative finish on completion of the work.
The money has been made available to Perth & Kinross Council through the Scottish Government's Home Energy Efficiency Programmes for Scotland (HEEPS), an initiative to tackle fuel poverty and increase energy efficiency in homes. The work is carried out by reputable contractors and there is Clerk of Works and and Tenant Liaison Officer to support for the project going forward
