Challenging benefit decisions

If you have been turned down for benefit or received a decision you are not happy with, you may be able to challenge the decision through the mandatory reconsideration process and/or through an appeal.

Mandatory reconsiderations and re-determinations

If you are unhappy with a benefit decision, you can apply for a mandatory reconsideration or re-determination to the office that made the decision on your claim.

Making an appeal

If after having asked for a mandatory reconsideration or re-determination you are still unhappy at a decision on your claim, you can appeal to an independent appeal tribunal.
