Briefing Information

Following the diesel spill incident near Killin, clean-up activities are in place with specialist contractors instructed by Certas Energy and being supported by multi-agency partners including SEPA, Scottish Water, NHS, Stirling and Perth and Kinross Councils, and other emergency response partners.

Following the incident there was evidence of some contamination in Loch Tay and downstream into the River Tay. However, there have been no reports of any sightings of fuel sheen in the river or loch since Saturday afternoon. Monitoring of the loch and river will continue for some time.

Communications have been issued asking people to report any sightings of fuel in the loch or river to SEPA on 0800 80 70 60.

Scottish Water has taken precautionary measures to safeguard the public drinking water supply in Perth and Kinross and continues to monitor the situation. There are no concerns about the public water supply anywhere in Perth and Kinross.

If anyone using a private water supply that abstracts water from Loch Tay or the River Tay suspects contamination, they should report it to Scottish Water on 0800 0778 778.

Please note Scottish Water's information and support point remains open at McLaren Hall, Main Street, Killin, FK21 8TN, and their customer support staff can be contacted on 0800 0778 778 for any queries.
